Roselle, IL…Al Lynch, a recipient of the nation’s highest military honor, the Medal of Honor, threw his support behind the campaign of Chris Dargis, Republican candidate in Illinois’ 8th congressional district.

“I am afraid for my country right now and we need people in Washington who are going to help our families out, which is why I am encouraging you to vote for Chris and to get out there and help.  It’s very important,” said Lynch, who spoke to a crowd of Dargis supporters at the American Legion Post 1084 in Roselle on April 27.  “Our country is at stake and we need to support men of integrity and that’s why we need people like Chris Dargis in Washington.”

Dargis, a 20-year Navy veteran, who served as a nuclear engineer and intelligence officer, said he was grateful to have Lynch support his candidacy for the Republican nomination in the northwest suburban district that stretches across Cook, DuPage and Kane counties.

“It truly is an honor to have Al Lynch backing my candidacy, but perhaps more important is the message he delivered.  With skyrocketing inflation, high gas prices and out-of-control crime, we need change in Washington and our current congressman is part of the problem,” said Dargis.

Lynch outlined his reasons for supporting Dargis including dedication to his family, his background as a businessman and his military service.

“Married 27 years.  That says a lot.  And a lot of politicians today have never really had a job.  Chris has been in business.  He knows about budgets.  He knows about employees trying to get to work with gas prices so ridiculously high,” explained Lynch, a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant.  “And Chris took the same oath I did.  We will have a representative who has served in in the military.  A lot of today’s politicians have no idea what it means to serve.”

Lynch was presented the Medal of Honor by President Richard Nixon in 1970 for actions he took in 1967 when he rescued three soldiers during a firefight in Viet Nam, single-handedly protecting them from enemy attack until they could be rescued.

Chris Dargis is a Ukrainian-American and retired Naval Officer running as a Republican in the 8th Congressional District. The Primary Election is June 28, 2022. For information on Chris Dargis, visit: https://www.votedargis.com/.
